Dr. Melissa Shotell Biography & Curriculum Vitae
Dr. Melissa Shotell is a Board Certified Orthodontist and practices in a multi-specialty practice in California focusing on the interplay of Orthodontics and restorative treatment. Dr. Shotell received her DMD at Nova Southeastern University and a General Practice Residency Certificate from Ohio State University. After spending years in general practice treating a broad range of patients, Dr. Shotell returned to complete a certificate and master’s degree in Orthodontics from Loma Linda University. At Loma Linda University, Dr. Shotell focused her training on cutting-edge three dimensional imaging technology for diagnosis and treatment planning for interdisciplinary dentistry. Dr. Shotell considers education to be her passion and regularly consults and lectures on dental technology, clear aligner therapy, orthodontics, in-office clear aligners, office efficiency and workflow, and teamwork. Leadership
Dr. Shotell’s career has been focused on the empowerment of female leadership in dentistry. She has served on the social media and education boards of the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, American Academy of Orthodontics, and is a made the cover of Dentistry Today in June 2021
Educator
Dr. Shotell created the first in-office clear aligners course teaching digital workflows and fabrication of clear aligners, available and accessible to doctors online. She also launched ClearCorrect’s hands-on training program for clear aligners, and created the first clear aligner fundamentals course that is independent of a major aligner brand.
The course is designed to teach aligner concepts that can be applied to the treatment method of the doctor’s choice. Available and accessible to doctors online. Expanding into social media, Dr. Shotell created and moderates the “In-Office Clear Aligners” Facebook Group, where doctors and laboratory technicians can exchange ideas and advance the practice of in-office clear aligners.
